Special Recognition

WRPS has achieved STAR recognition under the Department of Energy’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) for two of its projects and has set a goal to achieve STAR recognition for the entire company by the end of the year.

At last year’s national VPP Participants’ Association conference, WRPS was presented with the “Star of Excellence” award for its dedication and commitment to the principles of VPP. The company was recognized for its outstanding level of performance in meeting established safety and health goals, actively conducting outreach to others and achieving an injury and illness rate significantly below industry standards.

Our 222-S Laboratory received the “Legacy of Stars” Award. The award is given to VPP Star Sites that have earned the “Star of Excellence” for three consecutive years. In order to receive the “Star of Excellence” Awards, the 222-S Laboratory had to maintain injury rates at least 75 percent below industry averages, maintain safety program excellence worthy of emulation, and initiate outreach and mentoring activities to promote safe operations throughout the community.
